Specialist Care
Private Child and Adolescent ADHD assessments and treatments.
We provide comprehensive private ADHD assessments for children and young people. We provide face-to-face assessments, however we can, offer the flexibility and convenience of on-line appointments if required and clinically appropriate. Our appointments are available during the daytime, evenings, and weekends, ensuring you can find a suitable time that works best for you and your child.
Our assessments are supported by evidence-based, diagnostic tools and will usually involve input from the child, parents or guardians and teachers. This collaborative approach supports an in-depth and objective understanding of how your child's ADHD symptoms may have impacted them throughout their life.
We will inform you at the final assessment consultation whether your child meets the criteria for diagnosis for ADHD. The psychiatrist will explain this in detail, including possible treatment options if a diagnosis is confirmed. If a diagnosis is not confirmed the psychiatrist will explain other possible rationale for the presenting symptoms. If clinically indicated, we will advise on further appropriate assessments and will endeavour to signpost you to the most helpful team of professionals.
If your child receives a diagnosis, the team at Veyra Healthcare will work with you and your child to create an individualised treatment plan. This might include medication therapy, psychological interventions, family support or lifestyle changes. We will provide you with a comprehensive report explaining their diagnosis as well as a letter recommending reasonable adjustments in school or college. We will take time to understand the needs of your child and your family, ensuring that you receive the best possible treatment and support to enable them to thrive with ADHD.
We are dedicated to providing a supportive and compassionate environment throughout the assessment and treatment process. We understand that every child is unique, and our team is committed to tailoring our approach to meet the specific needs of your child and your family.
Taking the first step towards understanding and managing your child's ADHD can be a big decision. Schedule a confidential chat with us today and let our team of professionals work together to unlock your child's full potential.
Process
Our simple
step-by-step process
Veyra Healthcare offer the most comprehensive ADHD assessment process available today. We employ the most up to date and fundamental testing tools required to give the most accurate diagnosis. The results of each test work together to form a clear picture of each individual case. Our unique assessment process ensures that our assessments are highly robust, and we provide a full suite of information for transfer of care.
Information gathering
Weāll send you two forms to complete; one for you to fill out about yourself and another for someone who knew you well as a child. These forms help us to gather a comprehensive understanding of your experiences from birth to now. The greater depth of information we gain here the more comprehensive the assessment process, however we know for some people this may not be possible, please donāt worry just let us know and we will be able to guide you.

Extensive symptom testing
Included as part of our assessment process is a Computerised ADHD symptom test called a QbCheck. The QbCheck objectively measures symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, comparing your scores against individuals matched for age and gender who do not have ADHD. As well as helping us with your diagnosis, we may also use these scores to monitor improvement in symptoms if you choose to sign up to our medication care pathway.

DIVA 5
One of our specialist ADHD nurse practitioners or Psychologists will meet with you (in person or online) to complete the DIVA 5 interview. This validated assessment seeks to understand which of the diagnostic criteria for ADHD you fulfil, by asking questions about symptoms experienced in childhood and if relevant into adulthood. We will evaluate symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, as well as explore potential other ADHD symptoms further.
Many ADHD services complete the DIVA5 within the psychiatrist assessment - but we believe, that doing the DIVA5 prior to meeting our psychiatrist allows us to clinically evaluate ADHD and other potential co-morbidities in more detail, and look into how these impact your life ā this provides you with a greater depth of understanding of what you experience and why.

Assessment and outcome with a Specialist Psychiatrist
You will meet with one of our dedicated psychiatrists either in person or online, who will clinically evaluate all the information gathered and complete a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms. They may ask further questions regarding your physical and mental health history, your experience of friendships, relationships, school and work if applicable. The psychiatrist will let you know if you meet the criteria for diagnosis of ADHD during this meeting.
They will ensure you fully understand ADHD and the impact this might be having on your life. They will explain your treatment options to you and answer any questions you may have.
If medication is discussed as a suitable treatment option , they will make recommendations based on your physical and mental health and advise our team to set you up on our medication care plan.
Following your assessment, you will be provided with a comprehensive assessment report. This report may be used to support PIP applications or disability student allowance if required.
If you receive a diagnosis, we will also provide letters (on request, but free of charge) for your academic provider or employer suggesting reasonable adjustments. If you are not diagnosed, your psychiatrist will explain why and may consider alternative mental health conditions or recommend further assessments as appropriate.

Comprehensive medication care pathway
If you decide to sign up for our medication care pathway, we will ensure that you receive ongoing reviews from our specialist ADHD nurse practitioners on a monthly basis.
Our specialist ADHD nurse practitioners will review your medication each month, take your physical observations (blood pressure/weight/height) and closely monitor you during the titration of your medication. We can provide a prescription for you on a monthly basis, or if you choose, we can arrange to have the medication delivered straight to your door.

Post-diagnosis support call
We understand that receiving a diagnosis of any kind can be difficult, especially for children and their families; for this reason, if you are diagnosed with ADHD and you feel that you need some additional support and guidance moving forward, you can book in to have an appointment with one of our specialist ADHD nurse practitioners.

Final medication care pathway review
Once optimised on the medication, youāll have a final review with one of our lead mental health nurse practitioners. We will then request a shared care agreement from your GP or continue providing private prescriptions if you choose. Your GP may also require an annual review to monitor your progress on the medication.

Understanding
Childhood ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects children of all ages.
Each ADHD type can come with a unique set of challenges:
Inattentive type
Children and young people with ADHD inattentive type may struggle to maintain focus and concentration. They may have difficulty following instructions, organising tasks, or paying attention to details. It may seem like they are daydreaming or not listening when spoken to. They may report āzoning outā in class or during conversations ā
Hyperactive/Impulsive type
Children with ADHD hyperactive/impulsive type can exhibit high levels of physical restlessness and may find it challenging to stay seated or keep quiet when required. They may talk excessively and be known as a chatterbox, interrupting conversations, or imposing on others' activities without understanding social boundaries. ā
Combined type
Having ADHD combined type as the name suggests presents with a combination of symptoms from both inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive types. Children with this form of ADHD may display a range of challenges that encompass inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. ā
The examples highlighted above could relate to all children at some point in their lives. It is important when considering ADHD to consider expectations of normal childhood development.
We recognize the impact that childhood ADHD can have on the child's overall well-being and confidence as well as the challenges posed for both child and family. Our team of child and adolescent mental health professionals are on hand to support you and your family from initial contact, throughout the assessment, and where required through to a personalised treatment plan to support your child to thrive and reach their full potential.
If you suspect your child may have ADHD, don't hesitate to reach out to us for guidance and assistance. Together, we can make a positive difference in your child's life.
Research evidence has shown that assessing and diagnosing ADHD earlier in life can make a significant difference. Early intervention can increase a childās opportunity to understand themselves better,to develop coping skills and learn strategies to manage symptoms of ADHD. This can significantly increase their resilience as they mature into young adults and Veyra Healthcare. We work together with your child and you to provide the right support and understanding, to enable your child to thrive and shine in the way they should.
